

John Wayne Liles, 71, of Chatham, passed away at his home, Friday, June 1, 2018, with his family by his side. He was born April 23, 1947 in Springfield to Derrell Wayne and Charlotte June Baumgartner. He married Linda Marlene Rice June 15, 1968. He taught at Girard School District, was an underwriter and retired as a supervisor for the preparation plant at Turris Coal Mine for Shell Oil. He and his wife were members at the First Baptist Church in Virden, where he served as a Deacon. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years, Linda of Chatham; sons, Sean Liles of Chatham and Justin (Nikole) Liles of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Grayson and Charlotte Liles; brothers, David (Kaye) Liles of Girard and Michael (Debbie) Liles of Virden; niece and nephews, Kim Liles, Travis (Micaela) Liles, Robert Liles, Tracy (David) Lewis, Lance (Josephine) Hickey, Theresa Rice and Douglas Rice. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham before all services. His family will greet friends from 4pm-7pm, Monday, June 4, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, 62629. Memorial Gathering will be held from 10am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11am, Tuesday, June 5, at the First Baptist Church, 157 West Jackson Street, Virden, IL, 62690, with Reverend John Parrish officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Virden.
