John "David" Lovekamp

David was born on May 4, 1951, in Beardstown, IL, the son of John J. and Carol J. (Bergman) Lovekamp. He married Cleta Joanne Lauder for the first time on March 17, 1973, and again on April 5, 2008.

David was a 1969 graduate of Raytown Smith High School. He worked for Jemco Towing on tugboats for several years with his father before joining his brother-in-law at J Scott Mahnken Building & Contracting from 2000-2012. David was a dependable, hard-working, intelligent, and even-keeled man. His family enjoyed his wicked sense of humor. In his spare time, David enjoyed fixing and building things, reading, and watching old TV classics.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Cleta Lovekamp of Springfield; two daughters, Tegan Bree Lovekamp of Charleston, IL and Tristen Ann Lovekamp of Springfield; sister, Robin (husband, Scott) Mahnken of Springfield; niece, Summer Pool of Springfield; three nephews, Aaron Dufrene of Williamsville, NY, Preston Vaughn of Nebraska, and Joshua Vaughn of St. Louis; collie sons, Jackson and Gabriel; grand dog, Yoshi; grand kitties, Peach and Berry.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
