

John Charles Maslouski, 72, of Springfield, passed away at home on December 27, 2010. He was born in Springfield on February 6, 1938, the son of Joe and Helen (Joseph) Maslouski (deceased). John attended Feitshans High School and earned a degree in computer science from Springfield College in Illinois. Over his long career in data processing, he worked for the State of Illinois; Sangamon County; Aetna Insurance; Patterson, Cameron, Londrigan CPAs; and for the last 15 years at CCB Credit Services. Additionally, John and his wife Mary Jane owned and operated the Inn on Edwards and the Henry Mischler House Bed and Breakfast in Springfield from 1999 to 2004. John was a competitive amateur athlete, playing third base for champion fast pitch softball teams, including Perfect Window Cleaners in Decatur and Quality Furniture in Springfield. In the 1960's he was voted Illinois' best third baseman and was inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame. He remained an active softball player into his later years, playing in the senior league with Springfield's Realty 100 team that competed in the Senior Olympics at the state and national level. In the 1990's he also officiated baseball and softball for the IHSA. John was also an excellent golfer and bowler. In fact, he bowled with the same team for more than 40 years. And when he wasn't playing ball, bowling, or golfing, he spent his time fishing with family and friends. John is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; sons, Jeffrey Alan (wife, Anjanette) Maslouski of Northbrook, IL and Brian Joseph Maslouski of Chicago, IL; brother, Donald (wife, Kathy) Maslouski of Springfield; grandsons, Jett Aaron and Brody Alan Maslouski of Northbrook, IL; cousins, William Maslauski III of Springfield and Mary Lou Jenkins of Ohio; nieces Cheryl (husband, Mark) Laubacher of Columbus, OH and Robyn Maslouski of Lewis Center, OH; and nephew Chris Maslouski of Little Rock, AR. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with a prayer service to begin at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, with Rev. David J. Hoefler, celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society, 687 E. Linton Ave., Springfield, IL 62703.
