John was born January 13, 1979 in Springfield, the son of David and Barbara Engel Peterson.
John was a musician starting at an early age. He learned to play the piano and tenor saxophone, and taught himself to play the electric bass. He was active in baseball and golf, a favorite sport he shared with his father.
John was a 1997 graduate of Southeast High School where he played on the varsity golf team for four years and was a pitcher for the baseball team. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston where he majored in Performance. He played bass for the Frank Trompeter Quartet, Gypsy Collabo and Soulfield. He was very creative; truly a musician.
