

John Russell Stigler, Sr., 83, of Springfield, died at 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at his home. John was born November 3, 1930 in Carlinville, the son of Frank and Reta Stewart Stigler. He married Patricia Burke on June 18, 1955. John proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a union welder for Allis Chalmers and enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Jessica Heaton. He is survived by his wife, Pat Stigler of Springfield; two daughters, Debbie (husband, Bob) Coomer of Springfield and Lori (husband, Jim) Johnson of Sarasota, FL; one son, John Stigler, Jr. of Munford, TN; eight grandchildren, Jaime Nash, Randi Garst, Christopher Heaton, Shelby Greer, Joshua and Jacob Stigler, Carolyn Gerwen and Rob Coomer; and seven great-grandchildren, Alana, Seyarra, Kaedynn, Zelma, Jake, Charlie, and Piper. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Charlie Duggins officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
