John Martin (Marty) Stuper Springfield, Illinois February 6, 1959 - August 22, 2012 Marty was the loved and heroic father of Tara Alexandra Stuper, who has been his greatest joy in life. Tara was born to the marriage of Marty to Roxanne Bressan. He was the loving son of John C. Stuper (deceased, July 2009) and Joyce Stroble Stuper; cherished brother of Doug Stuper and Lisa Stuper-McNicholas (Michael), and a very special uncle to Lisa's daughter, Aly. Marty was blessed to have so many who loved him. Along with his family, those remembering him include aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and dear friends, whose lives he touched. Each will forever miss his humor, wisdom, and guidance that he shared with them. He fought a courageous and determined battle with multiple sclerosis for many years. Through it all he found strength to graduate from college with a Bachelor and a Master of Arts degree in Communications. He believed in the continuation of expanding ones' knowledge. A favorite quote was "write something every day," which he was driven to do until he was no longer able. In addition to his writing skills, he had the creative and intellectual talent for all arts, encompassing drawing and photography. Throughout his life, Marty participated and excelled in a number of sports, including football, soccer, and baseball. He was also a ranking member of the American Motorcycle Association during his years of racing motorcross. Marty was employed by the State of Illinois, Department of Historic Preservation. He was also elected Springfield Township Road Commissioner for three successive four-year terms before having to retire. Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside services at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 offered by Rev. Tom Donovan of St. Aloysius Church at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made for research to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163 or online at NATIONALMSSOCIETY.ORG
