John R. Sunley, 63, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital.

He was born in Springfield, September 23, 1950, the son of Herschel L. and Dorothy M. Simpson Sunley. He married Marlene Fuchs in Farmersville, IL May 3, 1980, and she survives.

He is also survived by his children; Danyele (Ryan) Cantrall, and Michael (Susan) Sunley, four grandchildren; Tyler Sunley, Garrett Haley, Leah Sunley and Charlie Sunley, two brothers; Bill (Aleta) Sunley and Rick (Julie) Sunley, all of Springfield, an Aunt and Uncle; Norma and Pat Capranica of Riverton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents and two infant sisters preceded him in death.

John was the owner and operator of John R. Sunley Construction Co., and was also employed by the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture. He retired in 2009. John was a member of the Carpenters’ Local 16.

Visitation: Friday October 4, 2013, from 4-7 pm at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10 am Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Bisch and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Radtke officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lutheran High School, 3500 W. Washington, Springfield, IL 62711 Please visit the online “Life Remembered Story” at where tributes and condolences may be left for the family.

I only knew John for a short 2 years,before he retired at the Fairgrounds.But i can tell you,he was one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. I am so sorry for your family's loss.May God be with you .
