John Levi Zimmermann

Jack Zimmermann, 95, died July 21, 2014 of natural causes following a long and well-lived life. Born on May 30,1919 in Lincoln, Illinois, the second son of Theodore and Marie Zimmermann, he grew up and graduated from High School in Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, where he also met his wife, the former Doris Jane Schultz. They were married on November 7, 1941, raised three children and lived happily together until her death on July 11,1985.

He built houses with his father in Illinois, danced in the movies in Hollywood, worked on racecars at Indianapolis, and later helped his brother, Frederick, build and run a small business empire in their hometown. He also preceded Jack in death.

He is survived by his companion, Donna Roetker; two sons, John Zimmermann, of Long Beach, California and Jim (Kristie) Zimmermann of Chatham, Illinois; one daughter, Jane (Dick) Wilson of Cobden, Illinois; four grandchildren, Katie (Brett) Streb, Josh (Meredith) Wilson, Kourtney Zimmermann, and Zack Zimmermann; and three great-grandchildren, Mason, Alyvia, and Hadley Streb.

Services will be private per wishes of the deceased.
