Jonathan "Jake" Chace Langbehn

Jonathan "Jake" Chace Langbehn, 44, of Los Angeles, CA, passed away while enjoying his passion of paragliding on Friday, August 8, 2008 in Malibu, CA. Jake was born December 31, 1963 in Hartford, CT, the son of Frank Wells and Suzanne Chace Langbehn. Jake was loved by all for his incredibly generous spirit and passion for life; admired for living every day to the fullest. He was a world-renowned photographer's assistant, respected by the photographic community for his expertise in lighting. Jake began his career in New York City where he spent 18 years before continuing his work in Los Angeles. Jake was a best friend to everyone and when he wasn't capturing the world in his special light, he enjoyed playing the harmonica, loved fishing, camping, hiking, playing golf, working on his classic cars, riding his motorcycle, and surfing. He was devoted to his family and friends, especially the kids, for whom he created magic whether near or far. Preceding Jake in death were his brothers, Eric Dibble Langbehn and Jeffery Wells Langbehn. He is survived by his parents, Suzanne Chace and Wells Langbehn; grandma, Dorothy D. Chace; his sister, Amy Elizabeth Langbehn of Cave Creek, AZ; and sister-in-law, Marilynne McMillan of Springfield; his nieces, Courtney, Jessica, Olivia, and Elizabeth; and his nephew, Joey. Family will receive friends from 9:00-9:45 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Central Baptist Church, 501 S. 4th St, Springfield, IL 62701. A funeral ceremony will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Reg Mills, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
