

Joseph A. Gillette, 70, of Springfield, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. Joseph was born on June 12, 1934 in Springfield, the son of Joseph Alexander and Anne Lyons Gillette. He married Beverly Walutkevicz on December 7, 1957 in Springfield. Mr. Gillette was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as a union laborer, and was a member of Local 477 for forty years. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Gillette is survived by his wife, Beverly; five sons, Joe, of Mattoon, IL, John, of Auburn, IL, James (wife, Lisa) of Springfield, and Ron (wife, Donna) of Springfield, and Don (wife, Jessica) Gillette, of Springfield; one daughter, Cathy Eliason, of Springfield; a brother, William (wife, Donna) Gillette, of Bradford, KY; a sister, Dorothy Lee March, of Riverton, IL; one aunt, one uncle, thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 30, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th, Springfield with a walk-through by the Springfield Police Department at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors.
