

He was born in Springfield, IL, on April 12, 1959. Joe was a graduate of Griffin High School with the class of 1978. He was a man of many talents, with a strong work ethic. Joe spent over 10 years working as a union meatcutter at Jewel, before transitioning into his career as an electrician. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), dedicating his professional skills to his work with Mansfield Electric Co. and B&B Electric, Inc.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lido and Elvira Pisani. He is survived by his five devoted siblings: Paula (Michael) Furst, Louis (Ann) Pisani, Frank (Janet) Pisani, Nancy (James) Doglio, and Mary (Steve) Contri. Joe was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews: Tiffany (Dan) Dorta, Kimberly (Ryan) Dunlap, Tony (Emily) Doglio, Jon Doglio, Corrine (Mark) Stoltz, Paul (Olivia) Pisani, Milena (Brad) Walwer, John (Alivia) Pisani, Jack (Katie) Contri, and Val (Laura) Contri. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an adoring group of great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved deeply and will always remember him as the one who could make them laugh better than anyone else. Joe will also be missed by his beloved dog and cat, Brea and Oliver.
He spent many years living in Auburn, where he was surrounded by wonderful neighbors who quickly became some of his closest friends. An avid fan, Joe loved his Chicago Cubs. He was a natural cheerleader for everyone who knew him, always finding a way to see the very best in situations and the best in people. Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was proud to have built his own home and worked on the Lincoln Presidential Museum. His distinct wit, warmth, loyalty, honesty, humor, and complete dedication to his family will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL, with a luncheon to follow.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, following services.
