

Joseph “Jody” Anthony Rainey III, 54, of Springfield, died at 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center. Jody was born November 6, 1948 in Lynbrook, NY, the son of Joseph Anthony, Jr. and Patricia Ann Gannon Rainey. Jody participated in the United Cerebral Palsy assisted living and work program. He was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan and also enjoyed music and movies. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1979 and his father in 2001. Jody is survived by one sister: Mary (husband, Robert) Rechner of Springfield; two brothers: Michael Rainey of Petersburg, IL and Thomas (wife, Julie) Rainey of Minneapolis, MN; several aunts and uncles, three nieces, two nephews, one great niece, one great nephew and several cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2003 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz celebrant. Graveside services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
