
Joseph Ridley, 73, of Springfield, died at 5:05 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Capitol Care Center in Springfield. Joseph was born on August 23, 1930 in Bedlington, Northumberland, England, son of Thomas Fairbairn and Ellenor Aynsley Ridley. He married Norma Fassero on June 24, 1967 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield. Mr. Ridley served in the Royal Corps of Signals. He worked as an Electrical Engineer and was a member of the Church of England. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Fairbairn Ridley. He is survived by his son, Thomas C. Ridley of Springfield; daughter, Elizabeth A. Ridley of Springfield; granddaughter, Hunter C. Ridley of Springfield; niece, Julie Ridley (husband, Alan Birks) of Manchester, England; and ex-wife, Norma J. Dougherty (husband, Leo) of Springfield. Friends may call from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Martha Bradley and the Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
