Josephine A. May

Josephine A. "Jo" May, 72, of Springfield died at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Josephine was born on July 22, 1935 in Decatur, the daughter of Joseph and Marcella Cantwell Riggs. She married Jerry May on October 22, 1955 in Decatur. Josephine graduated from St. Theresa's High School in Decatur and attended Millikin University. Preceding Josephine in death were her parents and sister, Mary Freischlag. Josephine is survived by her husband, Jerry of Springfield; sons, Greg (wife, Mary) May of Ft. Collins, CO, Mike (wife, Debbie) May of Mahomet, Steve May of Lewisville, TX, David May of Williamsville, and Bill (wife, Julie) May of Rockford; her daughter, Mary May of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren; as well as her sister, Joan Folzenlogen of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Christ the King, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL 62704 with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
