Joy Komnick, 82, of Springfield, IL passed away on December 13, 2022 at her residence. She was born on May 18, 1940 in St. Louis, MO to Albert and Caroline (Schillio) Mendez. Joy married Robert Komnick in San Francisco, CA on March 23, 1958.
Joy is survived by her husband of 64 years, son Mark (Staci) Komnick of New Berlin, Son Michael Komnick of San Ramon, CA, daughter Joan (Mike) Dannewitz of Springfield, 6 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 great- grandchild.
Joy graduated from Oceanside High School in California and later attended Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. Joy belonged to the Marine Corps League 1177 Auxiliary in Jacksonville, IL to support her husband, Robert, who served in the Marine Corps from 1955-1959.
Joy enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and making crafts. Joy enjoyed her time as a farm wife but also worked at Heinold Commodities, The Department of Nuclear Safety, Lutheran high School secretary for fundraising, several flower shops, Loami Elementary School and Farmingdale Elementary School. She loved God, her family, and her country.
Services are entrusted to Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 South Koke Mill Road, Springfield, IL. A private service will be held and burial will take place at Luken Cemetery, Alexander, IL.
