Joyce was born on June 25, 1944, in Springfield, the daughter of Ernest Lyle and Catherine E. Bacon Smith.
Joyce was a Springfield High School graduate. She retired from the State of IL, Department of Revenue, as a Tax Analyst and worked at Macy’s. Joyce was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed feeding and watching birds, watching QVC, and spending her time with her granddaughters and their dog, Zoey.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Cori Williams) Smith of Chatham; two grandchildren, Paige and Victoria Smith; one sister, Beverly (Russell) Wells of Taylorville; two nieces, Heather Mizeur and Wendy Lupton; and great-nephews, Caleb and Noah.
Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Chatham Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Blomquist officiating.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham.
