Judith A. Byer

Judy was born on June 6, 1944, in Watertown, SD, the daughter of Francis H. and Irma J. Walklin Jungers. She married Joseph Byer on August 31, 1963, in Watertown, SD.

Judy was a graduate of Watertown High School and attended Mount Marty College. She and Joe moved 15 times with his work before moving to New Berlin, IL in 2009 to retire closer to their grandchildren. Judy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Berlin. She enjoyed card making, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mike and David Jungers; and one sister, Mary Fieroh.

She is survived by her sons, Brian (wife, Cynthia) Byer of Clinton Township, MI, Thad (wife, Kristine) Byer of East Moline, IL, and Christopher (wife, Shanda) Byer of Loami; one daughter, Jennifer McBride of Genoa City, WI; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Barbara (husband, Martin) Bembers of Tucson, AZ, Sharon (husband, Larry) Tschetter of Hitchcock, SD, Carol (husband, Dick) Robinson of Buffalo, MN, Paul (wife, Peggy) Jungers of Watertown, SD, Patty (husband, Wade) Livingston of Fruita, CO, Tom (wife, Sandie) Jungers of Delta, CO, and Tony Jungers of Colorado Springs, CO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 404 East Birch St., New Berlin, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Adam Zadadzki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
