Judith Rose Helm

Judith "Judy" Rose Helm, 65, of Topeka, formerly of Springfield, died at 2:48 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Mason District Hospital in Havana. Judy was born August 16, 1946 in Beardstown, the daughter of Charles and Betty Lou McArthur Shaw. Judy was a graduate of Springfield High School and belonged to Southside Church in Litchfield. She retired from Jewel Osco, where she worked as a cashier. Judy enjoyed fishing, spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, "Boo". She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Richard L. Carpenter, Thomas R. Carpenter, and Charles M. Shaw; two sisters, Patricia A. Price, Barbara J. Scheller; and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son, Russell (wife, Dawn) Helm of Carlinville; three grandchildren, Heather and Tatiawna Pope, and Valory Helm, all of Carlinville; one great-grandson, Jaden Helm of Carlinville; one sister, Della (husband, Lee) McKnelly of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00-11:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Judy for use towards her granddaughter's education fund.
