

Judi was born on August 29, 1950 in Springfield, the daughter of John R. and Norma J. Schuchmann Rueter. She married Michael D. Castelletti on October 30, 1976 in Springfield. Together they raised two adoring children, Aaron and Dorann.
Judi earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern IL University. She taught for Sylvan Learning Center for 15 years, Immanuel Lutheran School for 13 years and ended her career with 3 years at District 186.
Judi was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was the ultimate cancer survivor having survived breast, uterine, endometrial and colon/rectal cancers. She had a passion for teaching. Judi loved to crochet and do counted cross stitch. She also enjoyed completing various crossword puzzles and spending as much time as possible with her family and grandkids. Judi’s children (and grandchildren) were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Judi’s kind spirit, incredible strength, infectious smile, kind and compassionate heart and her zest for life will live on through them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a niece; two sisters-in-law; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Judi is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael D. Castelletti of Springfield; son, Aaron Michael (Cori Charlson) Castelletti of Springfield; daughter, Dorann Michele (Kyle) Mendenhall of Williamsville; two grandsons, Hunter and Hayden Mendenhall;; three siblings, John Rueter of Springfield, Janet (husband, Dale) Cruse of Chatham, and Jean (husband, Steven) Sergent of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield Illinois COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, requiring face coverings and limiting attendance to 25 guests at one time.
