

Jules Marcy, 94, of Springfield, died at 12:35 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. Jules was born on July 31, 1913 in Sparland, IL, the son of Victor and Eugenia Botte Marcy. He married Marie Hartke in 1947 at Springfield; she preceded him in death. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. He held memberships at Elks Lodge 158, Eagles Aerie 437 and Grainmillers Union Local 24. Jules retired in 1974 from Pillsbury Mills after forty-seven faithful years of service. He loved playing Bingo and polka dancing with his wife, Marie, every Saturday night at the Roll Inn. Jules also had the unique ability to spell any word given to him backwards as fast as spelling it forwards. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Gail Foster; four brothers: Henry, Victor, Louis and Charles Marcy and three sisters: Jean Bart, Bertha Chepulis and Eloise West. He is survived by three grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family welcomes friends to visit from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
