Julie E. Sorenson, 49, of Chatham, passed away at 8:37 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010 at her home. Julie was born September 22, 1960 in Springfield, the daughter of William and Carol Mihelsic Powell. She is preceded in death by her father; and one brother, Patrick Powell. Julie was an Accounting Tech for the State of Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services. She is survived by her mother, Carol Powell of Chatham; one son, Justin Sorenson of Chatham; one daughter, Kelly (husband, Scott) Underwood of Springfield; two grandchildren, Ashley Underwood and Scott Underwood, Jr., both of Springfield; one brother, Ward (wife, Kathleen) Powell of Fountain Valley, CA; and several cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, 2008 S. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL 60604-1242.
