

Karen was born on August 24, 1940, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Truman Larison and Stella L. (Ruch) McClernon.
Karen graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1960. She was employed by the Springfield School District until her retirement. After her retirement, Karen owned and operated a resale shop, J & K Odd’s & End’s, for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Karen enjoyed making crafts, participating in flea markets, butterflies, and playing card games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Stella McClernon and her biological father, Truman Larison.
Karen is survived by her children, Tammy Valadez of Carroll, IA, Joe (wife, Robin) Cook of Arnold, MO, and Shelton Cook of Green Cove Springs, FL; grandchildren, Jeb (Kelsie Phillips) Livingston, Jasmine Livingston, Brittany Livingston, Elliot Cook, Lily Cook, Owen Cook, Christian Cook, and Brandon Cook; and eight great-grandchildren, Keyonna Livingston, Edward Hardin Jr., Logen Hardin, Olivia Hardin, William Kendrick III, Veronica Span, Jerry Allen, and Eyonnie Marshall.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Butler Funeral Home- Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. A funeral ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
