

Karen Irene Salmon, 72, of Springfield, died at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. John's Hospital. Karen was born March 7, 1941 in Danville, the daughter of Forrest and Mary Arundale Nims. Karen was a graduate of Havana High School. She worked at St. John's Hospital in the business office as an account specialist and had also worked at Richland Memorial Hospital. Karen attended Western Oaks Baptist Church and was the best mom, mother-in-law, and grandma in the entire world. She loved watching the Food Network, playing with her dog, reading, and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two uncles, Howard Hoff and Carl Arundale; one aunt, Bea Wolters; and one cousin, Karl Wolters and several other aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her children, Dr. Tracy (husband, Roy) Aldridge of Pleasant Plains, Jay Salmon of Anna, and Scott (wife, Kristen) Salmon of Arlington, VA; eleven grandchildren, Crystal (husband, Justin) Saathoff, Jessica (husband, Jeremy) Stevens, Tyler, Brittany, Austin, Dylan, and Luke Aldridge, Meagan, Bryant, Kayla, and Mia Salmon; three great-grandchildren, Carson Stevens, James and Tobias Saathoff; and several cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: The family will be hosting a memorial gathering from 2:00-3:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Western Oaks Baptist Church, 5345 Old Jacksonville Road, Springfield.
