Katherine E. "Kate" Varns Hoke

She was born in Springfield, May 23, 1984 the daughter of Larry and Julie Altman Varns. She was a graduate of Glenwood High School, and University of Illinois at Springfield where she earned a masters degree in Accountancy. She married Jeremy Hoke in Springfield, September 12, 2009 and he survives.

She is also survived by her parents, Larry and Julie Varns, of Chatham, sister, Ashley Varns, bother Tom Varns, both of Chatham, paternal grandmother, Leona Varns of Springfield, maternal step-grandfather, Martin Rogers of Springfield, mother and father in-law; Greg and Sharon Hoke of Petersburg, grandmothers-in-law; Lucille Hoke and Doris Janssen both of Petersburg, two nieces, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Kate worked as an accountant with the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault in Springfield. She previously worked for Kerber Eck and Braeckel LLP. Kate was a member of Christ The King Parish in Springfield. She enjoyed traveling. Her most memorable trips included a honey moon with Jeremy to Aruba, and their recent cruise. She was a volunteer for the Memorial Medical Center Foundation Festival of Trees each year, loved boating, spending time with her friends and family, playing soccer and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where visitation will be on Monday February 28, 2011 from 4-7 pm. Additional visitation will be on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at Christ The King Parish 1930 Barberry in Springfield from 9:00 am until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Fr. Jerry Rogers, celebrant. Burial will follow in Chatham Cemetery.
