

Kathleen A. "Kathy" Gold, 68, of Springfield, died at 7:34 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at her home after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. Kathy was born June 28, 1949 in Springfield, the daughter of Walter and Lottie Martin. She married Warren Gold in Fort Campbell, KY on September 24, 1966. Kathy graduated from Lanphier High School. She ran an in-home daycare, worked as a secretary at Lanphier High School as well as the Regional Office of Education, and retired as comptroller for Fit Club. Kathy was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, Anchor Boat Club, Illinois Grape Growers & Vintners Association, and was an election judge. She loved gardening, her yard was something she took great pride in. She also loved going to wineries and concerts and loved dancing. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kathy is survived by her husband, Warren of Springfield; son, Heath (Barbara) Gold; daughters, Sheila (Jeffrey) Tapscott and Beth (Eric) Maney; grandchildren, Talon, Logan, Hunter, and Bronson; and siblings, Constance "Connie" (Ford) Lanterman, Walter "Wally" (Judy) Martin and her nephews and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park with Rev. Joe Eby officiating.
