Kathryn B. "Kay" Aichele

Kathryn B. "Kay" Aichele, 94, of Sun Lakes, AZ, formerly of Springfield, died on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at The Renaissance in Sun Lakes, AZ. Kay was born January 9, 1922 in Taylorville, the daughter of Bertram P. and Sarah Clay Smith Neal. She married William F. "Bill" Aichele Jr. on June 30, 1942 in Bowling Green, MO; he preceded her in death on February 24, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Duval Neal; and two sisters, Faye Stephens and Bernie Starks. Kay attended Brown's Business College and was employed with the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid for 26 years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing Bridge, Words with Friends and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Kay's life revolved around family and she was happiest at family gatherings whether large or small. She is survived by her son, William "Bill" (wife, Kathy) Aichele III of Sun Lakes, AZ; two daughters, Nancy (husband, Lloyd) Entringer of Sun Lakes, AZ and Margaret (husband, Tom) Dlouhy of O'Fallon, MO; three grandchildren, Shannon (husband, Chris) Zock of Wilmette, IL, Brian Aichele of Grapevine, TX and Doug Dlouhy of O'Fallon, MO; three great-granddaughters, Alexandra, Adrianna and Anastasia Zock of Wilmette, IL; a sister-in-law, Hope Hickman of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
