
Kathryn Burke, 84, of Springfield, died at 1:53 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2 003 at St. Joseph’s Home. Kathryn was born July 10, 1919 in Farmersville the daughter of James M. and Nellie Timmones Burke. Miss Burke was a graduate of St. John’s School of Nursing in 1940. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was one of only 228 Navy flight nurses serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. She later worked for a doctor in New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Byron and Bryce Burke. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church 310 Nobbe St., Farmersville, IL 62533. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church 310 Nobbe St. Farmersville, IL 62533 with Rev. David Zimmerman. Burial will follow at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Farmersville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Home, 3306 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62703.
