

Kathryn Peterson, 94, of Springfield, died at 5:50 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Home. Kathryn was born December 18, 1908 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Charles and Ella Costello Fleming. She married Russell Peterson in 1932 in Carrollton, IL; he preceded her in death in 1957. Mrs. Peterson was employed by Horace Mann Insurance Company as an Insurance Underwriter for 17 years retiring in 1973. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Madonna #148, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), Horizons Unlimited, Anchor Boat Club Auxiliary, St. Joseph’s Home Coterie, Church of the Little Flower, St. Therese Guild, Knights of Columbus Council #4179 Auxiliary and volunteered at Holy Family Food Pantry. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Margaret Fleming, Teresa Strawn, Agnes Griffith and Marian Rolando and two brothers: Charles and Leo Fleming. She is survived by three daughters: Joan Reiter of Denver, CO, Mary Bea (husband, Armand) Sarti of Sedona, AZ, Kay (husband, Glenn) Merriman of Dawson; three sons: Charles (wife, Joni) Peterson of The Woodlands, TX, Bob (wife, Carrie) Peterson of Glenarm, Tom (wife, Mary) Peterson of Glenarm; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two brothers: Vincent (wife, Aggie) Fleming of St. Genevieve, MO, James (wife, Judy) Fleming of Tampa, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2003 with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Church of the Little Flower with Fr. Chuck Edwards celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
