

Kent Clay “K.C.” Ogata Sr. 70, of Mt. Olive, passed away at St. John’s Hospital on May 28, 2015. K.C. was born in Urbana, IL, on September 16, 1944, the son of the late Kent M. and Helen (Haak) Ogata. K.C. married Priscilla Anne Hamp in 1963, they shared 52 years of marriage together.
K.C. worked as a business and sales manager for different electronic companies over the years, including RCA, Scientific Atlanta, and Tintronics. He owned and operated The Big Apple Bar and Restaurant .
Outside of work K.C. did not let any grass grow under his feet. He was always on the move and very athletic. He competed for the U of I Swim Team while attending college. Later he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and competing in bowling and softball leagues, and dancing with his wife Priscilla.
K.C. is survived by his loving wife Priscilla, his children: Helen “Bitsy” Ogata, Kent “Clay” (Carmin) Ogata Jr., Karyn (Colin) Jones, Margaret ( Steve Sr.) Varty, B.J. (Maria) Ogata, his grandchildren: Kelsey , Lilly, and Trip Ogata, Payton, Audrey, and Sarah Jones, Steve Jr. and Roman Varty, Ethan, Ellie, and Thomas Ogata, and 2 sisters Carole King, and Jayne Ogata.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St. Springfield, IL, 62703. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery mausoleum in Urbana on June 6, at 10 am.
