Kevin "Charlie" Eugene Yates

Kevin �Charlie� Eugene Yates, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. He was born in Springfield on August 26, 1958, the son of Daniel D. and Neva Ann Nation Yates. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Pat Walsh. Charlie is survived by his mother Neva Walsh of Chatham and father Daniel (wife Willa) Yates, Sr. of Hinton, IA; brother Daniel (companion Angie Schmidt) Yates, Jr. of Glenarm; half brother John Walsh IV of Thayer and step brother Kevin Walsh of Springfield; stepsisters Patti (Donny) Farmer, Lana (Jamie) Basden and Maureen Walsh, all of Springfield; step brother Russ Castles, step sisters Kendra Deane and Shayne Yates; niece Stephanie Yates and great nieces Hannah Parker and Haley Jo Blair, all of Chatham; aunt Dorothy Dee Ingram of Williamsville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. After graduating from Glenwood High School, Charlie served his country in the United States Navy from 1977-1981. He graduated from Lincoln Land Community College and attended Illinois State University in Normal. He was a short order cook for ISU for many years. He lived in Bloomington for over thirty years, recently moving back to Chatham. Visitation and Services: Tuesday, May 22, 10AM until time of services at 11:30AM, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. Fr. John Nolan officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct Military Honors.
