

He was born on May 17, 1951, in Huron, SD, the son of Herman and Viola (Jurrens) Voigt. His parents and a brother, Harland Voigt preceded him in death.
Kevin attended Huron College and Sangamon State University/U of I – Springfield. He went on to work as director of purchasing for Memorial Medical Center/Springfield Memorial Hospital for over 40 years, retiring in 2016.
Kevin enjoyed playing golf and racquetball. He was an avid gardener known for the lilies from Holland that he planted in his yard for the neighborhood to enjoy as well as the tomatoes, grown to perfection and shared with family, friends, and neighbors. Kevin enjoyed home projects. He was proud of his workmanship as he finished the basement in his home. He also designed and built several cat trees. He looked forward to the Christmas season every year. He began decorating around Thanksgiving and each year’s display was enjoyed by the neighborhood and those that drove by to see his creativity. Kevin also enjoyed the 4th of July holiday. He could be seen with his wagon of fireworks, walking down the street to the neighbors that hosted the fireworks display. Kevin won the WNNS Super Bowl Contest and got to attend the 2016 game plus see Beyoncé at half time.
Kevin enjoyed dinning out at various restaurants. He liked various menu selections; however, Grouper certainly was his favorite. Kevin was a friend you could always count on. Whatever anyone needed if he could help, lend a hand, he was always there.
Kevin married Debra Ross in Springfield, September 3, 1982, and she survives.
Also surviving are his three sons; Ryan (wife Jess) Voigt of Anchorage, AK, Cory Voigt of Gering, NE, Adam Voigt of Normal, IL, his daughter Ashley Voigt of Springfield, IL, four grandchildren; Ruger, Viola, Caiden and Emmersyn Voigt and a bonus granddaughter, Aspyn Johnson, his sister, Dianne (Wally) Decker of Sun City West, AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL, 62711, where family and friends are welcome to a visitation on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, beginning at 9:00 am until the time of a funeral service there at 10:30 am. Pastor Mark Gifford will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
