Kevin Scott Wethington, aged 62, passed away peacefully at home in Springfield, Illinois, after a courageous 17 year-long battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and the destructive side-effects from two stem cell transplants and full-body radiation.
Kevin was born on April 8, 1963, grew up in Petersburg, Illinois, and graduated from PORTA High School. He attended Western Illinois University his freshman year, Lincoln Land Community College sophomore year, and completed his junior and senior years at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television.

His intelligence, quiet strength, and humorous nature touched everyone who knew him. He was a loyal Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, and he was thrilled to finally see the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. He also loved following the Illinois Fighting Illini football and basketball programs.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Bandy Wethington; his beloved children, Wyatt Wethington and Rylie Wethington; and his loving sisters, Linda Clemens of Richmond, Indiana, and Marla Willis of Springfield, Illinois. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Nancy Bandy of Springfield, Illinois; his brother-in-law, Kevin (Carmody) Bandy of LeRoy, Illinois; and his sister-in-law, Janelle Tometich of Bloomington, Illinois.
