

Konnie (Lehmann) Kensil, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Mill Creek Alzheimer’s Specialty Care Center. She was born on December 31, 1943, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Keith and Mary E (Summers) Lehmann.
Konnie married Dale “Cork” Kensil in 2005 in Kissimmee, Florida; he preceded her in death on March 24, 2005. Konnie graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1961. She went on to work for the State of Illinois, retiring after 30 years.
Konnie was a gifted florist, sharing her talents with the wedding flowers for many of her nieces and nephews and her children’s friends. Konnie was a part of the Grasshopper Golf League and Elks Lodge #158. She loved floral designing and playing golf. Konnie was a loving, kind, generous, and faithful person, and in her own words, was very stubborn.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, James “Cari” Comerford; brother, Kevin Lehmann; and sister-in-law, Olwyn Lehmann. Konnie is survived by her daughter, Jill Franklin of Springfield, IL; step-son, Steve (Charlotte) Kensil of Milford, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Cameron Franklin of LA, California; Elizabeth (Dan) Grieser of Castle Rock, Colorado; Claire (Landon) Truax of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Emile Franklin of Springfield, IL, and Michael Franklin of Springfield, IL; and step-grandchildren, Rebecca Chandler and Katherine Kensil both of Massachusetts. 5 great-grandsons; brother, Kenneth Lehmann of Glen Ellyn, IL; sisters, Karole Bell of Sherman, IL and Kolleen (Blane) Mendenhall of Williamsville, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11-11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – 900 S 6th, Springfield, IL. Memorial Ceremony will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
