Lane was born on August 9, 1950, in Decatur, the son of Charles and Jean (Fulk) Walton.
Lane graduated from Southeast High School in 1968, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a meat cutter for over 50 years. Lane enjoyed working on vehicles, fishing, and being a chauffeur for his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, and brother, Gale Walton.
Lane is survived by his son, Brian (Rebecca) Walton of Springfield; daughter, Kimberly Walton of Chatham; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Brad Walton.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, 8855 State Rte. 4, Chatham. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 12:30 p.m. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
