Larry L. Kline, Sr.

Larry L. Kline, Sr., 71, of Springfield, passed away at 7:37 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Larry was born on October 25, 1947, in Springfield, the son of Harry J. and Frances H. Stover Kline. He remarried Mary Jean Fruge-Kline on April 4, 2018, in Springfield. Larry graduated from Lanphier High School and proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed for 31 years as a computer programmer for the State of Illinois; retiring as computer programmer supervisor. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with computers, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Jean Kline; four sisters, Betty Browning, Fern Meridieth, Doris McKean, and Evelyn Bushnell; and three brothers, Jim, Bob, and Jerry Kline. He is survived by his wife, Mary Fruge-Kline of Springfield; sons, Larry (wife, Melinda) Kline, Jr. of Petersburg and John Kline of Springfield; grandchildren, Brandon, Jordon, Jesika, and Camdon; one great-grandchild, Delilah Kline and one on the way; siblings, Roy E. (wife, Vicki) Kline of Springfield and Mary F. Winningham of Adolphus, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following visitation. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Ron Lorilla, celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery Columbarium with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and Department of Defense.
