Larry Dean McCarthy

Larry was born on March 13, 1960, in Lincoln, NE, the son of Michael and Janice Mills McCarthy. He married Chana Sallade on December 30, 1982, in Springfield.

Larry served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a career Deputy Tax Assessor for Sangamon County, retiring in 2020. Larry loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the American Legion Riders Post #32 and ABATE. He enjoyed sports and his favorite teams to root for were the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Chicago Bears, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his wife, Chana McCarthy of Springfield; his two fur babies, Nutter and Little Girl; his mother, Janice Pohl; his father, Michael (wife, Diana) McCarthy; four siblings, Kelley (husband, Bob) Howard, Michael (wife, Ruth) McCarthy, Patrick (wife, Kim) McCarthy, and Melissa (husband, Tony) Davila; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.

Graveside Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Chaplain Michael Hart officiating.
