

Larry C. Searcy, 57, of Springfield, died on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. Larry was born June 28, 1951 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Earle and Carla Cunningham Searcy. Larry served his country with the U.S. Navy in the Submarine Service during the Vietnam War from February 1970 February 1974. He then spent 10 years as a Springfield City Police Officer and also worked for the Secretary of State for 10 years. In his free time, Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing. Preceding Larry in death were his mother; his grandparents; and two nieces, Stephanie and Stacey Miller. He is survived by his children, Scott (wife, Erika) Searcy of Jacksonville, FL and Bridgit (husband, Steve) Melton of Springfield; his father, Earle (wife, Wanda) Searcy of Gordonville, MO; his granddaughter, Bethany Searcy; his sister, Janalyn (husband, Marcus) Miller of Petersburg; and his twin brother, David (wife, Linda) Searcy of Waverly; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Vincent Rohn officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
