Larry was born on November 1, 1946, in Springfield, the son of Gilbert and Helen (Kemper) Strode.
He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1966 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Larry worked in maintenance at Famous Barr and was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion in Chatham. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry is survived by his siblings, Harry Strode of Chatham, Bonnie Woods of Chatham, and Patricia Jacobs of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home – Chatham, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
