

Lawrence L. Brandenburg, 79, of Springfield, died at 8:04 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital. Lawrence was born January 9, 1926 in Springfield, the son of Lee and Gladys Lamon Brandenburg. He graduated from Springfield High School. He married Florence Marie Schwendemann on May 26, 1951 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on March 18, 1999. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he had previously served as an usher and was a former member of the Holy Name Society. He was a WWII U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired as foreman from Sangamo Electric after twenty-nine years of service. He then was employed by the Illinois State Police in the communications lab. Lawrence was also preceded in death by one daughter: Teresa Delay; one brother: Charles Brandenburg and one sister: Gladys Bressan. He is survived by one daughter: Barb (husband, Roger) Large of Sherman; one son: Tom Brandenburg of Springfield; six grandchildren; two great grandsons and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family of Lawrence L. Brandenburg is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
