

After graduating from Spoon River Valley High School in 1957, he worked for IDOT before working for Illinois Bell. Lawrence transferred to AT&T, and after several years working on the national account team for Caterpillar, he retired at the age of 50. He then devoted most of his time to the antiques world and restored family trunks and art pottery.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Judith A. Lafary; stepson, Darin (Edith) Peacock; granddaughter, Audrey; grandsons, Colton and Ethan (Delaney); sister, Lucille (Bob) Kinsel of Canton, IL; brother, James (Sue) Lafary of Lewistown, IL; great-grandson, Camdynn; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Gathering and Service: To celebrate Lawrence’s life, the family will host a gathering from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Riverton First United Methodist Church, 419 E. Lincoln St., Riverton, with a celebration at 11:00 a.m. Luncheon and fellowship will be held in Fellowship Hall at 12:00 p.m. served by Larry’s church family.
Anyone wishing to share memories can do so by speaking or writing a note. The pastors are willing to read your thoughts for you.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Riverton or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
