Letta "Marie" Lowry

Letta "Marie" Lowry, 95, of Decatur, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at McKinley Court. Marie was born July 2, 1920 in Champaign, the daughter of Franklin and Grace Faye Morris Reynolds. She married Arthur Lowry on July 25, 1938 in Berlin; he preceded her in death. Marie was an LPN for St. John's Hospital for 10 years and an LPN for St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur for 23 years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and rummage sales. Marie was a caring and religious woman, who enjoyed her family, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her two sons, James A. and Gene E. Lowry; her parents; two brothers, David and Carroll; and five sisters, Marge, Shirley, Regina, Eleanor and Theodine. She is survived by three sons, Robert Lowry of Decatur, Donald (wife, Linda) Lowry of Berlin, and Kent Lowry of Decatur; one daughter, Joan Pettyjohn of Decatur; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five siblings, Virginia Patton, Beverly Powers, Frank Reynolds, all of Springfield, Velma (husband, Gary) Jeff of Idaho, and Merle Shores of Nevada; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 12:00 until the time of Funeral Ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 East Gibson St., New Berlin with Rev. Kirk Henneberry officiating. Burial will follow at Woodwreath Cemetery.
