She was born on June 26, 1951 in Alton, IL, the daughter of the late Alfred Witt, Sr and Mary (Behl) Witt. She married John Hewitt on August 1, 1970 in Virden, IL and he survives.
Linda retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue after more than 25 years. She loved shopping, gardening, scrapbooking, decorating her home, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She and John had been able to enjoy 3 years of retirement in Port Charlotte, FL.
Besides her husband John, she is survived by her daughter Rebecca (husband Craig) Tobias of Athens, IL; her son Brian (wife Kristine) Hewitt of Auburn, IL; 2 grandsons, Gavin Hewitt and Cody Tobias; her sister Jeannie (husband Tony) Miller of Virden, IL; and her brother Alfred (wife Sheila) Witt, Jr. of St. Louis, MO.
She was preceded in death by her father Alfred Witt, Sr; her mother Mary Allen; her step-father Harold Allen; and her sister Alice McElroy.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where a memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 from 11 am until time of the memorial service at 12 Noon. Rev. Mark Gifford will officiate the service. Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the A.P.L. (Animal Protective League).
