Linda Lou Warner Mauck Leitermann, 81, of Springfield, Illinois, was born on July 16, 1942 at Galion, Ohio to Garsa John and Lavina May (Gundrum) Warner. Her days on this earth ended on May 4, 2024 at the Bridge Care Suites in Springfield, IL.
Linda attended Iberia High School and after graduation married her high school sweetheart, Arlis Vaughn (A.V.) Mauck. Linda soon joined the league of “boy-moms”—and all the adventures which that life entails -- with the birth of John, continuing with Kevin and culminating with twins Tracey and Stacey, all in the span of three years.
Linda’s life settled into one of child-rearing and homemaking as she created a life with A.V. and her sons. After several other occupations A.V. answered the call to become a pastor and they moved to several locations as he first attended seminary, pastored churches, and taught at a Bible college. Linda’s giftings of hospitality and compassion paired well with the title of pastor’s wife and she began pouring her energy into the congregations and communities of the people they served. This ministry ended in 1995 with the death of A.V. while they lived and pastored in North Carolina.
In 2001 Linda married John Leitermann, moved to Springfield, IL. and gained another son as step-son, Joseph, joined the ranks. Once again Linda threw herself into what she loved—homemaking and volunteering in several capacities at church. She particularly enjoyed fostering relationships with church-supported missionaries which ultimately led to mission trips to Brazil and Bulgaria. In their years together John and Linda enjoyed traveling, local outings and just quiet days at home together. Through it all she maintained relationships with her children, grandchildren and friends; consistently keeping up with their lives, hearing their troubles and joys, and praying for them every day.
Linda is survived by husband John of Springfield; sons: John (Colette) Mauck, Barberton, OH; Kevin (Karen) Mauck, Kenesaw, NE; Tracey (Denise) Mauck, Norton, OH; Stacey (Robin) Mauck, Lawrenceville, GA, and Joseph Leitermann, Spring Hill, TN; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; step-sister Sandra McClarren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Arlis Vaughn Mauck; parents Garsa John and Lavina (Gundrum) Warner; step-mother Marjorie (Shambaugh) Swartz-Warner: parents-in-law Raymond and Margaret (Eusey) Mauck and Norbert and Jean (Vandenberg) Leitermann; brothers Richard and Dean Warner; sisters-in-law Florence Warner and Ellie Heiser; brother-in-law Clifford Mauck; step-sister Barbara Miley.
