Linda Rose (Halbert) O'Brien

Linda was born November 20, 1948, in Kincaid, IL, the daughter of Kenneth and Isabelle (O’Connell) Halbert.

Linda was the most caring, loving, and selfless person. Her family was always number one. She made a point to have a front-row seat to her children and grandchildren’s lives. Linda was such a positive spirit and had a contagious laugh that made you want to be in her presence. Linda went through different avenues in her career paths including Secretary of State, Illinois Board of Education, homemaker, Horace Mann, District #186 (Southeast High School secretary, Special Education office secretary, and Pleasant Hill Elementary school secretary). She touched everyone's life she came into contact with by serving as a motherly type and taking care of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Lisa O'Brien.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband, John Patrick O'Brien of 46 years; children, Erin (Brent) Eggleston, Moreen (TJ) Woolum, and Kevin O'Brien; grandchildren, who adored and beyond loved their grandma, "LaLa," Isabelle/Matthew Eggleston, Ethan/Ava Lusk, and Grant O'Brien.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday. September 16, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. Visitation will begin with a prayer service and a special remembrance service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence Ave., Springfield, IL with Very Rev. Brian C. Alford, celebrant.

Burial will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.
