

He was born on April 21, 1936, in White City, KS, the son of John and Zola (Adam) Friedli. Lloyd married Mary Carley on June 29, 1957, in Wamego, KS. She preceded him in death, on March 5, 2023.
Lloyd graduated from Alma High School in Kansas in 1954, and earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Washburn University in 1962. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lexington from 1954-1958. Lloyd went on to work for State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, starting as an actuary and moving up the ranks to various management positions, retiring after 30 years of service. While with State Farm, he served on various national working groups and committees and served as President of Data Processing Management Association. Lloyd was a member of the USS Lexington CV-16 Association, serving as president and treasurer. The USS Lexington Association was a 40-year passion for both Lloyd and Mary. He served on the Lexington Library Board and the Central IL Library Association and was active with the American Legion 291. Lloyd loved being able to support his community. He enjoyed fishing, kite flying, being a boy scout leader, and mostly hanging around with family and friends and sharing life stories. He was respected, kind, and generous. Lloyd especially thrived on sharing his and Mary’s life stories with his grandkids who will be retelling them for years to come!
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Kathryn (Conrad) Rubinkowski of Springfield and Rebecca (Mike) Truax of Fountain Hills, AZ; son, Eric (Kim) Friedli of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Leo (Stephanie) Rubinkowski of Chicago, Mark (Jessica) Rubinkowski of Springfield, Dana (Mark) Friedli-Neumann of Lake Forest Park, WA, Crista (Karl) Kirchhoff of Shoreline, WA, and Jenna (Nick) Klop of Everett, WA; siblings, Gary (Arlene) Friedli of North Glen, CO and Kim (Gay) Friedli of Burlingame, KS; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.
Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
The family will host a Graveside Ceremony at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
