

She was born in Pasadena, CA Feb. 16, 1916 the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Garmes) Stevens. She came to Springfield at a young age and graduated from Enos Grade School and then Springfield High School.
She married Joseph J. Goleash Sr. Aug. 16, 1941 and he preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1989. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Margaret, and her two brothers; Ralph W. (Butch/Sonny) Stevens and John Robert (Bob) Stevens.
Lois retired from the City of Springfield Street Department. She was a member of the Republican Women Luncheon Group, served as a Republican Precinct Committee Person for many years and the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield. She had many interest including traveling, working in her yard, reading, fishing and watching U of I Football and Basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
She is survived by her son, Joseph J. "Joe" Goleash Jr., her daughter, Janice A. "Jan" (husband Loren) Batson all of Springfield, her grandchildren; Gregory (wife Katy) Goleash of Winfield, IL, and Grant Goleash of Springfield, a step-grandson, Jeremy (wife Lori) Batson of Sherman, IL, her great grandchildren; Kathryn and Jackson Goleash of Winfield, IL. She has a great grandchild expected any day, and her step great grandchildren; Elijah and Benjamin Batson of Sherman, IL.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen where the family will meet friends Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 from 10:00 am until time of funeral services there at 11:00 am with Rev. Brent Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Goleash Jr., Greg Goleash, Grant Goleash, Tyler Vandermeersch, Travis Vandermeersch, Loren Batson, Jeremy Batson and Jan Batson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Heritage Manor for their love, concern and the exemplified care with dignity and respect they provided to Lois.
