Loretta was born in Carthage, IL, on January 6, 1960, to the late Phillip and Mynetta (Riffle) Gunn. She was the fifth oldest of thirteen children. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Western Illinois University. She worked for the State of Illinois with the Department of Health and Human Services for 20 years before retiring in 2018. Loretta enjoyed walking her puppies, spending time with family, attending church, and reading scriptures.
Loretta was a beautiful, strong, intelligent, and generous woman. From an early age, she devoted her life to the Lord, fueled by a desire to minister about Jesus Christ and pray for others. She enjoyed studying Bibles from various Christian denominations, ultimately seeking to solidify her relationship with the Lord.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Tessa Mosher-Curry; sisters, Theresa Martens, Donna (Daniel) Dale, and Mynetta Rose Gunn; and brother, Joe Gunn.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Walter Harper of Springfield; daughters, Debra (Shaun) Curry of Springfield, Christina Mosher of Springfield, and Michelle (Darren) Van Booven of Ammon, ID; son, Matthew (Chrissy) Gunn of Carbondale; grandchildren, Aiden Mosher-Curry and Talia Gunn; sisters, Marie (Gary) Londrie, Frances Gunn Gibbons, and Christina (Darryl) Lunsford; brothers, Tom Gunn, Paul Gunn, Michael Gunn, Tim (Tina) Gunn, and Jim (Renee) Gunn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at a visitation on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at Abundant Faith Christian Center, 2525 Taylor Avenue, Springfield, IL. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park immediately following the Funeral Ceremony.
Memorial contributions may be made to Abundant Faith Church.
