

He graduated from Taylorville High School in 1966 and attended SIU Carbondale before serving two years in the Marine Corps. He received his B.A. from Sangamon State University and earned his PhD from SIU in Educational Administration.
A long time employee at the Illinois State Board of Education, Lou was at various time involved with both the Springfield Theater Center and the Springfield Muni. He was an avid trivia player and a Civil War buff.
He passed away quietly on Friday, October 21, 2011 after a short illness. He is survived by, his family Jean, Warner and Danielle (Craig Glass) and siblings Maurice (Colleen) and Carol Patocki.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., from 8:30 am until the time of services at 9:30 am, Rabbi Michael Datz will officiate. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Inter Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.

The family will be at their home Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week for prayers at 7 pm each evening.
