Lou was one of those individuals at ISBE that created the backbone of the agency.  If anyone had a fiscal question they knew that Lou would have the answer or know how to find it.  He was one of those people who always had a smile and a friendly hello for you when you saw him in the hall, on the street or at a local store.  We were lucky to have had him at ISBE.

We were blessed by Lou's presence and know he made a positive impact on all those he met.  He will be missed (never forgotten) by us at ISBE where his great smile and expertise helped more people than can ever be measured.  You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.  And may your memories of Lou help you find peace and know he is watching over his loved ones from Heaven.

 I went to school with Lou many years ago with the Class of 1966 and I must say that he had a beautiful smile that lit up a room by his presence. So sorry to hear of his passing but I know that Heaven will be happy to have him there. We can only hope, that we can make a difference in this old  world as he did I'm sure. I knew Louis from 12 years of school together and we became friends on line and played several games together he was so proud of Dani and you Jean and loved his family i am sorry to lose a friend and class mate from Taylorville graduated class of 1966  so sorry for your loss Marlena Bresh Gartshore

I will always remember Lou from all the years we worked together at the Illinois State Board of Education.   I always admired is intelligence and relied upon him when we worked together on various projects over the years.  I also considered him a friend who was trully loyal to his friends.

I worked with Lou for a number of years at ISBE. You all Have my sincere sympathy.  I am so sorry for your loss.  He will be missed.

Lou was a good friend to both my daughter Megan and myself.  He will be missed.  We had loads of fun on the Board at Spfld Theatre Centre and even more fun in plays.  He played the judge in Inherit the Wind.....perfect typecasting :-).   The family is in our thoughts and prayers.  Bye Lou-man.

Lou's expertise in education will leave a huge void at ISBE.   I worked with Lou for several years and admired his ability and talent. We worked diligently and had lots of laughs when the School Construction Program was implemented.  My condolences are with family and friends.

Lou was a regular long time customer of ours at Sportsmans Lounge where he enjoyed his frosty Bud Light and his sports games and not to mention a good ribeye at times...he became a good friend to all.  I would look forward to lunch with Lou  and our monthly Saturday morning shopping trips to Sams.  He will be greatly missed...you all our in my thoughts and prayers...Rhonda Merritt

Though I did not know "Lou" personally as he is being called, I do know and work with his daughter.  He must have been a wonderful person because his daughter certainly is.  My prayers are with the Ferratier Family in your time of loss, but now there is an angel watching over you all.  Peace and Blessings!

Our condolences on Lou's passing. I worked with him on several workshops for ISBE, doing presentations for school district auditors.  Even though we started at different locations in state government, we shared a lot of stories about our experiences. Lou was a great help to me more times than I can count in the short time I worked with him.  

Bev remembers your children from when she was their elementary school librarian; she also sends her condolences.  Your family will be in our prayers.

lou and i were roommates at siu carbondale many years ago. we were lab partners in electronics classes and good friends outside of class. after our graduation, i enlisted in the air force and lou enlisted in the marine corps. i couldn't believe it! lou became a great marine and a real patriot. although we drifted apart after our military service, i always considered him a friend. i pray that he thought of me in the same way. may almighty god let him rest in peace. may his family dwell on the good times that they shared with this unique man.
