He was born on October 15, 1948, in Decatur, IL, the son of Louis L. and Christena Jones. Lee married Cheryl Mahon on December 8, 1973, and she survives.
Lee was a Vietnam veteran, having served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. His career was in the automotive business for 28 years, 18 of which were with Charlie Sattler Olds-Cadillac, Springfield. He was an avid golfer, and St. Louis Cardinals, Fighting Illini, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He is also survived by two sons, Darren (Courtney) and Justin (Rachael) Jones; three granddaughters, Chloe, Sydney, and Audrey Jones; step-grandsons, Brandon and Dominic Hinman; sister, Cheryl Long; sister-in-law, Joann Strobel; and several nieces and nephews. Lee’s parents and brother, Rick Jones, preceded him in death.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
A private family Graveside Ceremony will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
