

Lou was born on April 18, 1931, in Chicago, the son of John and Mary (Cipperoni) Bosco. He married Rose Marie Cicero on May 26, 1956.
A graduate of Loyola University in Chicago, Lou held a master’s degree in social and industrial relations, majoring in personnel management. Prior to marriage, Lou served as a member of the U.S. Army in Korea from 1954-1956.
Lou’s working life was a career in social services. He began as an employment counselor, proceeded to office manager to systems analyst and then to Assistant Director of Cook County Department of Public Aid. He completed his career as Chief of the Bureau of Personnel Management and Labor Relations for the State Department of Public Aid. Lou had a long retirement, filled with world-wide travel, family activities, and water aerobics. He liked to read, play the piano, fish, do crossword puzzles, and make matchstick models and dollhouses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jared Gordon; and his brothers, William and John.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Bosco of Springfield; four children, Carolyn Lombardo of Chicago, Michael (wife, Kathy) Bosco of Lisle, Steven (wife, Lisa) Bosco of Aurora, and Gina Marie (husband, Kevin) Gordon of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Micheline (husband, Rich) Tyrie of Spokane, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Memorial Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. A Memorial Ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after at Poe’s on the Hill.
Private family burial will be held at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
